Two young southeastern New Brunswick residents were killed in separate highway accidents near their homes over the weekend. Dead are 26-year-old Thomas Cormier of Memramcook East and 31-year-old Phillip Myers of Grande-Digue.

Cormier was killed instantly Saturday (3 mai) when the car he was driving left a secondary paved highway in Memramcook West known locally as La Montagne road and overturned. Both Cormier and Terry Belliveau, 20, also of Memramcook East were thrown from the car in the 3 a.m. crash. Sackville RCMP said Cormier is believed to have died from a broken neck suffered when thrown from the car. Bellieau, the lone passenger, suffered a broken wrist. The accident occurred in a fairly sharp curve in the highway.

Born at Memramcook East, Thomas Cormier was a son of Aimé and Annie (Dupuis) Cormier. He was a bricklayer by trade.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Vernon LeBlanc (Pauline) of Memramcook East; five brothers, Willie of Pré-d’en-Haut, Emery of Moncton, Jean, George and Oscar Cormier, all of Memramcook East, and by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. A brother, Roger, died in a 1977 car accident in British Columbia.

The body is resting at Dupuis' funeral home, Memramcook. Mass will be celebrated at 7.30 p.m Tuesday from the St Thomas Roman Catholic Church, St Joseph. Interment will be held in the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Roman Catholic Cemetery, Memramcook East.
